PRETRIAL SETTLEMENT - $800,000.00
BUCKS COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA  

A 32 year old sanitation worker was dumping trash into his employer's truck when he was struck by a car, pinning him between the car and the truck, and causing a fractured femur, knee trauma, venous thrombosis, ankle sprains, shoulder contusions, and sciatic neuropathy. He required surgery to repair the fracture, and arthroscopic repair of the knee, leaving him with a limp. He could not return to his job as a trash collector and was given a sedentary job with the same company, resulting in estimated annual lost earnings of $7,000.00 - $12,000.00.


PRETRIAL SETTLEMENT - $130,000.00
PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA 

A 51 year old woman slipped and fell down an old wooden staircase in a store. An engineer found that the staircase had significant defects and code violations that caused the fall, including dangerous stair material; variations between risers; depth, slope and variation in treads; handrail configuration; and insufficient lighting. Injuries included a shoulder fracture, impingement and rotator cuff tendonitis; multiple bruises, contusions and abrasions; and neck and back strains and sprains. Surgery was not required.

PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA 

A 74 year old woman was walking with her shopping cart when she was attacked by a dog belonging to an off duty police officer. The dog, which had escaped from the officer's home and was not on a leash, jumped on the woman, who tried to fend the animal off with her cart. In the process, she fell to the ground and sustained injuries that included a rotator cuff tear; shoulder, hip, knee, chest, hand and arm bruises and contusions; and gastrointestinal pain and bleeding caused by the use of pain and anti-inflammatory medications. The shoulder was injected twice with steroids. There was no surgery.

 

PRETRIAL SETTLEMENT - $250,000.00
BUCKS COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA

A 49 year old female factory worker was struck on the top of her head by a steel roller that fell from an overhead conveyor system. There was no loss of consciousness or fractures, and all diagnostic test results(MRI, CT Scan EMG, EEG, X-Rays) were negative. The woman, who alleged some memory loss and mental deficits caused by impact from the roller, hired an attorney to file product liability claims against the manufacturer and distributor of the conveyor system. The attorney failed to serve a Complaint on the defendants in a timely manner, and the case was dismissed by the Court. The injured woman then hired our office to pursue a legal malpractice claim against the initial attorney, and the case was settled shortly before trial.

 

JURY VERDICT - $110,000.00
PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA

A 31 year old woman was attempting to cross a busy 4 lane road in the middle of the block at 2:00 a.m., after leaving a nearby nightclub and bar, when she was struck on the hip by the passenger side mirror of the defendant's car. The speed of the car was disputed, and the defendant driver argued that the woman was negligent in failing to cross the road in the crosswalk at the traffic light. Her injuries included low back pain radiating through the buttocks to the right leg and foot; right knee pain; leg pain when ascending or descending stairs; and right ankle, neck, back, and hip strains and sprains. She had epidural steroid injections to her low back, and underwent a right knee arthroscopy. The defendant offered to settle the case for $25,000 before trial.

 

PRE LITIGATION SETTLEMENT - $285,000.00
BUCKS COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA

A 76 year old mentally disabled man was killed while riding as a passenger in van that was being driver by the owner of a group home where the man lived. The man had lived in the home with other mentally impaired men for several years, and he had no immediate family or employment history. The driver's insurance policy limit was $300,000, and the case settled for $285,000 before suit was filed.

 

PRELITIGATION SETTLEMENT - $595,000.00
CAMDEN COUNTY, NEW JERSEY

A 78 year old lady was struck by a car while crossing the street, causing rib fractures, sacral fracture, head lacerations, and cognitive deficits. All fractures healed satisfactorily within 6 months. Most cognitive deficits resolved within 10 months.

 

PRETRIAL SETTLEMENT - $360,000.00
BUCKS COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA

A 45 year old nurse slipped and fell on a patch of ice while entering a supermarket, sustaining fractures of the leg and ankle requiring surgical repair. The injury occurred several days after a substantial snowfall and the defendants, which included the supermarket and three snow removal companies, all contended that there was no ice in the area; that the plaintiff tripped and fell over a cement curb; and that her injuries were caused by her own negligence. The case settled shortly before trial following mediation.

BUCKS COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA

An 81 year old woman was injured in an intersectional collision after which she told the police "I don't know what happened". The other driver testified that the injured woman ran a red light. There were no independent witnesses. Injuries included multiple fractures and lacerations requiring treatment for less than three months.

BUCKS COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA

A 44 year old mechanic was involved in an intersectional collision with a car, and sustained a fractured clavicle, muscle strains, and bruising of the right knee. There was no surgery or inpatient hospitalization, and no lost time from work. Treatment including orthopedic evaluations ended after 6 months.

 

PRETRIAL SETTLEMENT - $130,000.00
BUCKS COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA

A 38 year old truck driver was driving his own car when it was struck in the rear at low speed by another car. There was no visible property damage. The claimant had neck and back muscle strains, and bilateral knee contusions from striking his knees on the dash at impact. Treatment included neck and back physical therapy and arthroscopic partial meniscectomies on both knees, with full recovery.

 

SETTLEMENT DURING TRIAL - $750,000.00
PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA

A 37 year old dump truck driver was involved in an intersectional collision with another dump truck that had defective brakes, was overweight, and ran a red light. Although the injured driver claimed chronic pain and an permanent inability to work in any capacity, there were no positive diagnostic findings on x-ray or MRI other than pre-existing degenerative arthritis in the neck and back, and bilateral carpal tunnel syndrome which the defendant claimed was mild and also pre-existing. Treatment consisted of chiropractic therapy, psychological counseling, and consultations by a variety of medical specialists, none of whom could pinpoint a precise cause of the chronic pain. The case settled after 5 days of trial, before the plaintiff's case was completed.
